Description
Gain the full potential of your Audi C7 S6, RS6, S7, or RS7 4.0T with the Untd. Performance 3″ Catless Downpipe + Mid-Pipe W/ Shield, engineered to improve exhaust flow, reduce backpressure, and increase the performance potential of the twin-turbocharged 4.0T V8.
The factory exhaust system is designed around emissions compliance and OEM refinement, while the Untd. Performance system provides a significantly freer-flowing exhaust path. The 3-inch catless downpipes combined with the included mid-pipe help the engine evacuate exhaust gases more efficiently, improving turbocharger response and producing a more aggressive exhaust note.
For tuned C7 4.0T vehicles, this system provides an excellent supporting modification for maximizing exhaust flow and maintaining consistent performance.
Key Features
- 3″ Catless Downpipe Design – Maximum Exhaust Flow – Removes the restrictive factory catalytic converters to significantly reduce exhaust backpressure.
- Included Mid-Pipe – Further improves exhaust flow downstream of the downpipes while complementing the factory or aftermarket exhaust system.
- Improved Turbo Response & Performance – Reduced exhaust restriction can improve turbocharger response and overall engine efficiency.
- Aggressive 4.0T V8 Sound – Produces a deeper, louder, and more aggressive exhaust tone compared to the factory system.
- Increased Performance Potential – Designed to support higher horsepower and torque output when paired with an appropriate ECU calibration.
- Durable Construction – Built for demanding high-performance street and competition applications.
- Direct-Fit Design – Designed specifically for the Audi C7 4.0T platform.
- Installation Hardware Included – Includes replacement gaskets, bolts, and required installation hardware where applicable.
- Tune Recommended / Required for Optimal Performance – A proper ECU calibration is strongly recommended to take advantage of the increased exhaust flow and address catalyst monitoring.
Estimated Performance Gain
The Untd. Performance 3″ Catless Downpipe + Mid-Pipe reduces exhaust restriction and allows the EA824 4.0 TFSI V8 to flow exhaust gases more efficiently.
On the factory ECU, gains are expected to be relatively modest because the stock calibration is not designed to fully utilize the additional exhaust flow. The largest gains are achieved when the system is paired with an appropriate performance tune.
| Tuning Level | Estimated HP Gain | Estimated Output | Estimated Torque Gain |
|---|---|---|---|
| Stock Tune | ~5–12 HP | ~565–572 HP | ~+10–20 WTQ |
| Stage 1 Tune | ~95–130 HP | ~655–690 HP | ~+100–140 WTQ |
| Stage 2 / Downpipe-Specific Tune | ~105–145 HP+ | ~665–705 HP+ | ~+115–160 WTQ |
Performance estimates are based on crank horsepower, 91–93 octane (95–98 RON) pump fuel, and stock turbochargers.
For S6/S7 C7 models producing approximately 420–450 HP, percentage gains can be higher depending on the ECU calibration and vehicle configuration. Published Stage 2 tuning data has demonstrated substantial gains on these applications.
It’s also important to note that the factory downpipes are not necessarily the largest restriction on stock-turbo C7 4.0T applications. As a result, Stage 2 may provide only a modest increase in peak power over Stage 1 on certain setups, with additional benefits often seen in turbo spool, exhaust flow, throttle response, and sound.
Actual results will vary depending on fuel quality, ECU calibration, vehicle output, supporting modifications, ambient conditions, engine condition, and dyno methodology.
⚠️ Check Engine Light Warning
Because this system uses a catless downpipe design, the factory catalytic converters are removed.
The vehicle may trigger a Check Engine Light (CEL) due to catalyst-efficiency and rear-O2 sensor monitoring when operated with the factory ECU calibration.
A properly configured ECU tune is strongly recommended to address catalyst-related monitoring and take advantage of the increased exhaust flow.
For Stage 2 applications, the ECU calibration should be specifically designed for a catless downpipe setup, including appropriate management of rear-O2/catalyst monitoring.
Why Upgrade?
The factory C7 4.0T exhaust system is engineered to balance emissions compliance, noise control, drivability, and performance. For enthusiasts looking to extract more performance from the twin-turbocharged V8, reducing exhaust restriction can provide valuable improvements in overall exhaust flow.
The Untd. Performance 3″ Catless Downpipe + Mid-Pipe replaces the restrictive factory components with a larger, freer-flowing exhaust path. This helps the turbochargers evacuate exhaust gases more efficiently while reducing backpressure.
Combined with an ECU tune, the system can contribute to improved turbocharger response, throttle response, exhaust flow, sound, and overall power potential.
The included mid-pipe further complements the downpipes by improving exhaust flow through the center section of the system.
